Summary
The thing he’d never ask was exactly what she’d needed him to ask: “Risk everything, for me, because I need you.”
A missing conversation from Threads to make it all make sense—after the Kerry and Jack break-up, before Jack and Sam in the infirmary, because there’s no way she’d hold his hand that way unless they’d established something else first.
Twenty-one years later, still thinking of the moment these two get their lives together…

could be the missing piece that we're still all trying to get right.

Summary
Their return from the ice planet hadn't been easy. Plagued by nightmares, Sam's struggling to cope. A new complication from the quantum mirror isn't helping, either. Alone and exhausted, she needs to decide what she actually wants. Can she have it all? Can she gather up her broken pieces and make something beautiful? Quasi-sequel to "Cracks in the Glass". AU, ATL, Angsty-ship.

Summary
Canon compliant, in character attempt at a realistic development of the Sam/Jack relationship seasons 1-8. Missing moments and deleted scenes to address some of the unanswered questions we all have with an emphasis on in character communication, or lack thereof. M for season 8 only. T version available.
“Somebody told me that it was good to remember.” He was looking down at her now instead of at Charlie. Sam wasn’t sure what she was feeling, only that she was feeling a lot of it. Did he mean that he had done this because of her?
“Yeah, I think it is,” she answered him, looking back to Charlie.
“Thanks,” he whispered. Was this what it had been like before they had become strictly co-workers? She didn’t think so. She remembered a lot of flirting and teasing—a lot of fun. She didn’t remember anything so heavy. Maybe this was better, after all. She missed the flirting, but maybe this was what he actually needed. Maybe he needed the things that were hard for him instead of the things that were second nature. Maybe she was selfish to want both, but hey, a girl could dream.

“Thanks. My girlfriend loves it,” (Jack's baseball cap)
