“Sure thing. Although usually when I take a woman somewhere more private, it’s not to have a discussion.”
Every single thing this woman says seems designed to throw Caitlyn off balance. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. She stares at Vi for a moment, unsure how to reply. Vi winks before flicking her hair out of her eyes with a toss of her head and shouting over her shoulder toward a door in the corner.

This close, Caitlyn can see the smoky makeup around Vi’s eyes, can pick out individual freckles on her nose, can see that there’s a scar through her eyebrow to match the one on her lip. Vi pulls one hand from Caitlyn’s waist and checks her watch. “Thirty seconds.”
She brings one hand up to rest on Caitlyn’s cheek, tilting her head down slightly so she can whisper into her ear. “And in case your shitty excuse for a girlfriend didn’t tell you, you look beautiful right now.” Caitlyn feels a blush burning her cheeks as the crowd around them starts chanting the countdown.

Caitlyn's girlfriend is making out with another woman at a New Year's Eve party, and Vi offers to be her New Year's kiss.

“Earl Gray tea, and a chocolate cupcake,” Vi announces, presenting the spread for the customer.
“I didn’t order a-”
“It’s on the house.”
Vi studies the woman’s face as she thinks about this. Her features can only be described as chiseled, and, though this really is just for fun, Vi can’t help but be mesmerized by stupid details, like the sharpness of her nose.
At last, the customer huffs in annoyance. “I don’t like chocolate,” she says. She picks up her cup, leaving the pastry on the counter.
“Thanks for the tea,” she says, and walks away to sit by the window.
“What kind of freak of nature doesn’t like chocolate?” Vi calls after her, but she isn’t surprised when she’s ignored.
She can’t help but chuckle. She loves this part of her job.

Had to work fast - had to do something. The maintenance hatch was to Jinx’s right, the ventilation lower and behind her. Jinx had to know about them to use them - had to know about them so that Vi wouldn’t go from finding so much to being left with so little.
Vi slammed her foot onto the groaning bolts, making the platform groan and shudder, and was rewarded with Jinx’s blue hair whipping around to glance upwards, a grenade in her hand.
Vi pointed to the hatchway, to the ventilation, eyes wide, eyes pleading. Get it. Please get it. Please, please, please-
Jinx’s head turned, and Vi saw her body jerk as she understood.
