Summary
Branch had always known he wasn’t a good person, but he never expected one act of selfishness to spiral so quickly. After he chose to stay in the bunker to keep the village from eating all of his food or playing with sharp objects, the noise slowly trickled down until he remembered to go after Poppy. By the time he had found where she went, she was already dead. Heartbroken at her death, Peppy became unfit to rule, and the crown was passed to Branch for being the one who provided safety during the crisis. But what if he got a chance to do things over?

She pulled his hand closer, turning it over to study it. He was in shock as to why she was holding his hand so tenderly that he didn’t even see the obvious cuts all along his fingers she was currently observing.
“That’s uh… from the fall and the log, I think.” Branch stuttered, feeling warmth spread across his cheeks.
He was glad it was so dark in the hole they had fallen into, the last thing he needed was Poppy to notice he was blushing.
(Branch and Poppy accidentally partake in a dangerous mission to drive off giant birds attacking Troll Village. This takes place before Movie 1.)
