In Xianzhou, scent is a crucial aspect of conversations, a component that can make the difference between a flattering compliment and mocking sarcasm; can be the sole distinction between friendly, familial, and amorous interactions. It conveys intent, and Ren has no idea what Yingxing’s intentions are.
What would Yingxing’s scent tell him about these actions he can’t recognize in himself? To his own nose, would Yingxing still smell of the light perfume of lilies, the woody smoke of the forge?
Ren finds himself contemplating such meaningless things.

There was a stranger aboard the Astral Express.
"It's Dan Heng!" March 7th blurted, wide eyes blinking rapidly as though she could not believe what she was seeing. Stelle, on the other hand, looked between Dan Heng and the stranger over and over, and seemed close to giving herself whiplash.
Dan Heng was none too pleased by March's exclamation. "That's not me," he declared flatly.
"But he looks just like you," Stelle said, amazed, and Dan Heng felt the pit in his gut sink even deeper. "Is he some sort of imposter?"

An accident reported by the Stellaron Hunters leads to Dan Feng temporarily boarding the Astral Express. It is not the best experience for Dan Heng, when the reason for the murderous man hot on his trail is meditating on the same train.

Its time was frozen—perhaps broken. However, that wasn’t what caught her attention.
There was a photograph within it, a person eerily similar to her. Same hair length. Same facial features. Same smile.
There were engravings on the back of the artifact, dating back to five hundred years ago.
