"So to keep yourself from getting hurt by love, you're…casting a spell to…find it?" Sam says, her face twisted up in confusion as Lena wanders the garden gathering the herbs she needs. It's dark outside, and they're darting between shadows – the garden is here for the kitchen staff to pick fresh ingredients from, and the last time Lillian found her snipping rosemary she was confined to her room for two months.
"I'm calling for Amas Veritas," Lena clarifies. "I'm binding myself to a person that doesn't exist."
"How do you know they don't exist?"
"They can't. No person can fit all my criteria. And if they don't exist, I can never fall in love."

Summary
Everyone allegedly has a soulmate. Back before people could travel the globe different groups had different ways of identifying soulmates, though the majority had some kind of physical marker. Lena Luthor doesn’t have any such indicator and thinks that she must not have a soulmate- after Lex rejected his why would the universe bother giving one to her? Kara also doesn’t think she has a soulmate on earth- she wasn’t even born here, after all.
On one particularly annoying day Lena gets a call from a woman trying to order pizza. Lena is the CEO of L-Corp, not Mario from Mario’s Pizza. Still, once it’s all over she doesn’t think much of it- until she tries to call her secretary and pizza lady answers instead.
It just keeps happening now.

Before Lena could change the subject, lest Kara tilt her head even further and ask if she was okay, Clark intervened: stretching out of Kara’s grasp and reaching for her with chunky arms and a familiar whine.
It was muscle memory that had Lena reaching back. When Clark wanted her attention, she gave him her attention. It was simple.
Well, okay, maybe simple wasn’t an entirely apt descriptor.
When Kara had first asked Lena if she wanted to hold her baby cousin, she might as well have been asking if Lena wanted to hold a landmine — which probably would have been preferable, actually. At least a landmine was something Lena could wrap her head around, could handle with care the way she would dangerous materials in a lab.

“You got a dog?” Kara asked in delight, already forgetting how Saviour had shifted quickly out of their hug only a minute ago.
“More like he got me…” Saviour joked, the loneliness in her green eyes receding to something soft and fond as she looked over at the now rather fluffy white dog that was growing faster than either of them could keep up with. Argos quirked his head to one side at Saviour, jaw falling open in a happy pant that he sent her way.
“What’s his name?”
“Argos.” Saviour declared and Argos couldn’t help how his chest puffed up so that the gold tag etched with his name and attached to his red leather collar glinted in the sunlight.

Summary
Midway through dessert, Kara reached for Lena’s hand under the table. Not obviously. Not dramatically. Just laced their fingers like she’d done it a hundred times before - which, by now, she had.
Lena let her.
She was wearing a simple white gold band on her middle finger - an old ring, unremarkable in design but heavy in meaning. It had been her mother’s. She wore it more out of habit than sentiment, always on the same finger, always on the right hand.
Kara played with it idly while James and Nia argued about movie runtimes. She twisted it once. Then again. Then, without asking, without even glancing over, she slid it off Lena’s middle finger and onto her ring finger.
Lena didn’t react. Didn’t flinch. Kara kissed her hand once - absentminded, almost thoughtless - and kept holding it. Interlinked their fingers, didn’t let go for the rest of the evening.
It wasn’t a proposal. It wasn’t even a promise. And yet, Lena’s heart lurched like she’d been hit in the chest with something tender and irreversible.

Lena is convinced she's found the love of her life, which would be ideal if said love of her life wasn't convinced she would ruin everything. Lena's heirloom ring is a paid actor.

As their friendship progresses everything else in Kara's life shifts drastically and she ends up needing Lena more than previously intended. Lena, on her end, never thought she would have a friend like Kara and she fears her feelings might get in the way.
A season re-write of Kara and Lena becoming best friends, realizing they have more than platonic feelings for their best friend, being in denial for a little bit, fighting everyone who judges their relationship and says they shouldn’t be friends, whilst wanting to be more than friends, defending each other at all costs, helping each other when things get hard, and just being hopelessly in love. With appearances of Winn being Kara’s best bro, Alex who needs to chill and stop being so overprotective, James who is being a little bit of a hypocrite and should learn how to separate Luthors and Supers, everyone just being a tad bit judgmental, tabloids invading their privacy and speculating on their relationship, and Kara and Lena not giving a fuck because they believe in each other and what they feel and that’s all that matters.
