“I can handle it,” Peter said at long last, his gaze fixed on the buildings that slipped past them as they drove.
“Then handle it,” Mark returned firmly.
Peter turned to look at him, a little surprised by the response. Under normal circumstances, Mark suspected that the agent would have punched him for giving an order like that, but sitting in the semi-darkness of the evening, in a private little bubble, moving through the city, it was harder to keep up his walls. Especially when Mark was on to something.

With his usual Caregiver in the hospital after a run-in with Jigsaw, Peter hasn't been able to reset himself in the way he's used to. Thankfully, Mark knows more than most about caring for a Little, and he knows the signs when he sees them.

Summary
It isn’t often that Investigative Agent Peter Strahm is called away from the head office to inspect one of the branch locations for the Jigsaw Research Collective, but when one of the research assistants winds up dead at the hands of a specimen, the higher ups have no choice but to send him in to investigate.
A slip in protocol. A fateful error. And Peter find himself in the water with the temperamental specimen. And once the shark-like creature lays claim to the investigative agent, there seems to be nothing that will convince it to let him go.

John felt his face reddening as he lined up the shot and took a few photos. He shook his head slightly, his heart pounding as he switched apps, brought up the photos, chose the best one, tapped out a quick message and pressed send.
He didn't receive a reply for five minutes. When the reply did come, he frowned slightly.

He checked the chat with Steve and the photo wasn't there. He was sure he'd sent it. He had a sudden sick, sinking feeling in his gut.
