Summary
"You think I hate you? You think I'd ever kill you?" Sokka holds Zuko's face in both hands, blood dripping from his lips. "I'd fall on my sword for you. I'd find you anywhere. What do you think that means?"
Rescued, but imprisoned, Zuko finds himself no further from death on a water tribe ship. Sokka, the chief, would see him bleeding out on the boards of the deck as justice. He's a fire bender, the evil of the war that his father rages through their world. Zuko hasn't been a part of that war. Not for years. Now he's thrust back into it against his will, finding himself fighting on a side he never expected to be a part of. Maybe he'll find a cause worth fighting for; someone worth fighting for.

Summary
Sokka decides to arrange a romantic dinner for Zuko, so he shops around the Fire Nation capital. He gets to learn different opinions of the common folk about their fiery leader, as well as the rumors about the Fire Lord’s not-so-secret exotic trophy boy – that’s him, by the way. Some of those opinions let him appreciate Zuko all the more, other ones make him wish he could just hit people in the face with the sharp end of his boomerang…
Ah, but it’s all worth it because, at the end of the day, he is going to enjoy a dinner with his Zuko.

Iroh accepts, mournfully, that it's going to be a long, long time before Zuko ever feels safe again. If Zuko ever feels safe again. Because of that, because Iroh thinks he already knows the reason for his nephew's silence, he doesn't look closer at just how quiet Zuko has been since waking.
Iroh should have noticed.
He wonders, later, if this, too, is his fault. If something he said while his nephew was still drifting, barely aware of his surroundings, had struck deeper than he meant it to. If even something as simple as a well-meant shh, Zuko, shh had a hand in this.
If Iroh had somehow taken his original mistake and deepened it, rather than trying to make up for it.
(If this is the shape of the scar that Iroh left on his nephew).

The Agni Kai happened 2 years earlier than in canon. After fighting for his life from his wounds, Zuko wakes up miles away from home with an impossible mission and a ragtag crew of the worst soldiers in the navy. He sees this and decides he doesn’t want to please a father that would do this to him, so he ignores his quest. Banished and without purpose, things aren’t looking good for the once prince of the Fire Nation. But hey, at least he has his uncle with him.
*Basically, a story where Zuko realizes he’s been abused a lot earlier and says ‘Fuck you’ to Ozai and his quest. He decides that we wants to stop the war instead and he and his crew begin to fight the Fire Nation. When they find the Avatar, Zuko is overjoyed. The only problem is Aang is under the impression Zuko’s trying to capture him.

Summary
The flier featured a portrait of the Fire Lord. The man was young, around Jet’s age. He possessed sharp golden eyes, dark hair, and a resting expression that looked faintly like a scowl. The red scar over his eye was devastatingly distinct. It was Lee.
A familiar burn sparked inside Jet's chest, and with it came a fury of realizations. Lee was never Lee. He was Zuko, the whispered-about banished prince of the Fire Nation, now Fire Lord. Jet had been right all along. He was an ashmaker, and he was a liar and a fraud.
Zuko had long since settled into a solitary routine. His closest friends, spread across the world, only visited on occasion. Uncle Iroh had retired to his tea shop. Suki and Ty Lee left when he relieved the Kyoshi Warriors of their duty, when the assassination attempts died down, and he could hardly call any of his current ministers or guards 'friends.' While he and Mai stayed in touch, they were never as close as they once were. He had not set eyes on his sister in years.
He was still figuring out how to be content with his loneliness, when someone he never expected to see again attempted to kill him. Frankly, it was a pleasant surprise that Jet was still alive.

Zuko wants to use Sokka to find the Avatar while Sokka is trying to plan his escape. What neither expect is for the news of Sokka’s capture to quickly become news of the Fire Nation’s prince’s betrothal to the Southern Water Tribe’s princess. After an encounter with Zhao, the two decide its much more beneficial for both of them to pretend it's true.
