He, with all the harnessed background energy of the universe propelling his mind like liquid plasma through a void of matter that vibrated at a balmy negative two hundred seventy degrees Celsius.
Hal, by contrast, with all his sharp angles and kilometers of near-microscopic fiber optic wiring, primitive body a simple conduit for a mind that spoke through ones and zeroes, sharp enough to keep up with Dave's. His golden clockwork circuits and crystalline memory banks were the perfect middle ground for Dave to settle, between the nanoseconds of conversation that passed between them.

His nemesis, of course, thinks it's hilarious, but Anderson is determined to find a way to work around said curse, rather than take the obvious out.
