Only, when he gets there, he finds bringing him back is one thing; bringing him back in one piece is another. But for Brian, Dom thinks he's up for the challenge. Because he won't go home without him.
Set after 2nd movie, and pretty much ignores canon after that.

Summary
Severide is not surprised when he walks into the morning briefing a week after the final firefighter recruit tests and sees Buckley and Strand standing near the front with Boden and Casey.
The instructors at the academy were right about them being attached at the hip, platonic soulmates was what Buckley had called them when Kelly and Shay had gotten them drunk one night. They were both technically underage but Buckley had delivered his first baby so they had taken him and Strand back to their place and gotten them properly drunk.
Shay had taken an immediate liking to the boys. She and Strand bonded over being gay after the Truck crew had pulled their typical prank on newbies, trying to get him to ask her out. Buckley had been harder to crack but two weeks into his candidacy a factory fire they were working on had unexpectedly exploded, throwing him off the ladder he had been on.

“Uh, no.” Buck shifts uncomfortably from one foot to the other and hitches Darcy higher on his hip. Fortunately she seems unconcerned by the grown up conversation, distracted by tracing the lines of the tattoo peeking above the stretched out collar of his workout shirt. “This is my husband, Kelly, and our daughter Darcy. Darcy blinks up at him with big blue eyes that are the exact same shade as Kelly’s, her little fingers pausing on the first number of Shay’s badge number where it’s stamped on his collarbone, and then turns a charming smile on the gathered crowd.
