“Goodnight, lyubimyy. Sleep tight, I won’t let the little bugs bite.” Ilya pinches Shane’s waist as if his fingers were the ‘little bugs,’ but soothes over the teasing nips with soft touches moments later.
Shane smiles sleepily at the alpha’s words. He drifts off to sleep knowing Ilya will stay true to his promise. He’ll stay with him while he rests and he’ll take care of him when the next wave of heat inevitably strikes.
He’s very good at that. The whole ‘taking care of Shane’ thing.

Shane has learned that Rozanov played in the KHL up until signing with the Centaurs. His departure from his previous team seemed to end on anything but friendly terms. He has a reputation. Trouble always seems to find him. Or maybe he chases it. There’s stories about fights in the locker room, authority issues, and he’s apparently a notorious party boy, a womanizer, some new omega on his arm in every photo online.

He’s all the kinds of alpha that Shane has rolled his eyes at all his life.
And Shane hates the way he blushes under the alpha’s attention.
Or: Shane loves hockey, but was never allowed to go pro due to regulations preventing omegas from playing professional hockey. Instead, he works as a nutritionist for the Ottawa Centaurs. Ilya is a recent transfer to the team, and takes an immediate liking to Shane. Having built walls around himself and his designation, will Shane be able to open up to him and let the alpha in?

Shane is in a post-game interview when his world stops.
He’s just answered a question about Montreal’s offensive strategy going into the game. Clean passes, avoid penalties, draw defenders wide. It had worked and the Voyagers had beat Colorado soundly, 4-1. Shane had scored two of the goals and assisted on a third.
Usually, Shane would be eager to boast about the win to Ilya. But ever since their fight- since Ilya told Shane to leave- winning feels hollow. Losing feels better, somehow. As if Shane deserves to lose after being so selfish. Ilya gave up everything for him- his home, his team, and to some extent- his happiness. Hockey. Ilya gave up hockey- good hockey- for Shane.
A ripple goes through the room of reporters. Shane swears he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘crash’. But no one is paying attention to him anymore.
“What’s going on?” he asks into the microphone, feeling strange at the role reversal. Usually, he’s the one being asked questions.
No one answers. And this time he knows that he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘Centaurs’.

The intonation was just as he remembered, but the voice was much deeper.He turned and felt himself short circuit. It took every ounce of willpower to not let his jaw drop cartoonishly to the floor. But it was as if someone had snapped their fingers and the smug, silly Russian boy who had been attached to Shane's hip for 3 summers was transformed into some sort of fucking Adonis right before his eyes.

Summary
Shane Hollander is the only son of an alpha gang leader Yuna Hollander, their only mission is to keep omegas safe. That often means taking down big sex trafficking operations from all over the world. Their latest win was saving fifteen women from a Russian sex trafficking ring, Shane is very protective over them.
Shane is deeply invested in the gang, so much so that he pushes down any part of him that is an omega, refusing to let that part of himself out. He can't risk what would happen. He can't risk becoming a liability. But the more you suppress your natural urge to nest and mate, the harder it becomes to hold that part back.
It becomes a whole lot harder to hold it back when he meets a beautiful alpha, a rival. A man that is dangerous to him personally and professionally.
