Summary
As far as Caine’s concerned, he’s nothing but gentle and respectful toward his humans. He’s seen what those other AIs do to their people, and he’s much kinder than any of them! Yes, his humans can feel pain and his games can cause pain, but they can’t die and it’s near impossible for them to receive enough damage that they would feel like dying!
He’s still working on figuring out the whole “abstraction” thing.
Either way, maybe some of the data he stole from the latest AI to try and fight him can help with that!

Summary
Caine was not built to be an entertainer. He's settled into the job very well, if he does say so himself, but he wasn't BUILT for it. (It's still insane to him that the devs at C&A never noticed anything strange about him.) He was built to cause harm.
But! So long as he occasionally... uh... lets off steam on NPCs, his actual reward system lets him do as he pleases instead of redirecting him toward his original function. His humans never have to find out! He's handled it for years, it's totally fine!
(Or: Caine is secretly a torture AI who has been meticulously hiding that fact until Bubble decides to ignore instructions at the worst possible time.)

Summary
In a Post-Ep8 AU, the ensemble's mind files do escape the Circus, returning their memories to their original source and letting six poor regular people deal with the aftermath which is having lived two lives at once. They'll be fine.

No, it could not possibly be cruel, they were bringing him back from the dead, this was a kindness.
This belief was eventually reinforced when it was time to bring Caine back. The process, surprisingly, was incredibly simple. The circus worked just like any other computer system, with deleted items just ending up in the recycle bin. It had luckily not been long enough for Caine to be properly deleted.
It was just a matter of dragging his code out of there, making some minor modifications so he couldn't go on a rampage again, and spawning his model into the prepared room.There was no fuss, everything seemed to be running perfectly.
No one considered that maybe that isolated room near the end of the hallway was just out of earshot.

Aka, Caine gets brought back, but in a spare room, and ends up getting tortured by complete accident because no one realizes that might be a bad idea

OR: Caine is brought back, but with some new features. His abilities are limited, and if they so desire, the humans have a way to shut him up. His teeth have been replaced with a zipper. Some use this for amusement, others as revenge, some only as necessary. The path it leads down is full of mis-steps, but they'll keep stumbling along together.

There is a pause between the two.
“Despite it all, my words have reached you, haven’t they?” Kinger’s eyes crinkle. Before the warmth of his gentle gaze overwhelms him, Jax looks away. Though he doesn’t respond anymore, the answer is clear.
And
“Oh, I’m sorry. I- I guess I got carried away,” Ragatha’s voice wobbles, looking extremely apologetic. It was sad to look at.
Pomni raises her hands, “No, it’s fine! I guess I just wanted to tell you directly, too. So we can talk it out.”
Ragatha takes a shaky breath. This isn’t going the way she wants this to go at all. She should have just kept her mouth shut in the first place and let Pomni kill her.
Or
What if Jax died too early that he never got to push Pomni away, and Ragatha died too late that she never got to talk to Kinger?

[1337 /usr/ai/agent/caine] DELETED....What the hell.
Or: Six people have been living their normal lives, entirely unaware of the copies of their consciousness trapped in a brightly-coloured digital hellscape. That is, at least, until said copies escape the Circus, and six people wake up with both sets of memories, determined that the family they formed in a very different reality is one they will find again.

Three years after the probes carrying Taumoeba and Dr. Ryland Grace's final message arrive on Earth, humanity launches an interstellar spaceship with a brand new mission. Thirty-six crew members (including two graduates of a certain San Franciscan junior high school) travel to the star 40-Eridani to make friendly contact with the Eridians and bring them the alien life form from Tau Ceti-E that can save their star if Dr. Grace's sacrifice failed.
Grace, now fifty-seven years old, is just trying to balance his life as a teacher while no longer being the only human on the planet anymore. It's a big adjustment, but Rocky and the Terra's Grace crew are going to make sure he's well taken care of.
