“Depends. You gonna fall off?”
Tesla scowls at him. Rust laughs, guiding them to his motorcycle. They study him as he helps them onto the back, watching the way his eyes dart over Tesla as if mapping out their injuries. There’s thinly disguised concern there, but nothing deeper than that — not a hint of the usual nervousness or trepidation most carry the second Tesla speaks.
“What do you want from me?” Tesla demands as Rust takes up his place in front of them.
He glances over his shoulder at them. “For you to hold on.”

Tesla has long since learned that everybody wants something. Ideas, inventions, their mind. Never them. So they keep to themselves.
Until, suddenly, they can't anymore.

Summary
Ranboo shook their head, trembling with fear as the Captain glared down at them, clearly furious. But it wasn't- they couldn't! Their muzzle dug into the soft skin of their cheeks and chin as they tried to weakly protest, but it was clear there wasn't any dissuading the Captain, not like this, not when faced with a perceived rebellion that he'd been expecting since he first brought Ranboo on.
They gave a shuddering cry, the noise lost to the muzzle, and went limp in the Captain's hold, begging for any mercy, even though they knew there wasn't going to be any.
Then the Captain lurched forward with a shout of pain, his hold on Ranboo dropping abruptly as he gripped at his shoulder, and Ranboo could only stare at the arrow shaft sticking out of him.

The man leaned forward, but did not lower his voice. “I am known for keeping secrets, even without a thick pay. I only require what you pay me for a job.”
“May I have your word?”
“You may.”
“Then here’s my task.” Shouji lifted his poncho, revealing his several limbs and watched the man’s face grow in confusion and then interest. “I require armor, and I have heard that you are the most skilled and trusted blacksmith among mutants.”

Shouji is a warrior in the fight against a tyrant king. Iida is a blacksmith with artisan habits. Their paths meet.

The first thing that Iida Tenya noticed about the man that fell in his forest that wasn’t his first aid training (two thick lacerations to the back, many thin scratches all over, eyes tired, signs of fatigue-) was that he was incredibly light for his build. Iida expected him to be heavier, and yet he almost jerked him up when he finally lifted him from his landing. Iida thought it could mean something worse, like malnutrition, so it only made him hurry to reach his farmhouse just a short walk away.
