"Imagine," he starts, then immediately falters. Rey reaches out and squeezes his shoulder. He covers her hand with his briefly, drawing strength from her presence.
"Imagine... a boy and a girl," he says. "They're born on different planets, on opposite ends of the galaxy. Imagine the boy, born nearly ten years before her, in a big city on a green world. His parents are rich, famous. He wants for nothing, and yet he is incomplete. There's a hole in the fabric of his being, but he doesn't yet know it's there and neither do the people that raise him."
He pauses again.
