He wanted to help, but his brother had insisted that they could take care of it easily, and be back at the Bunker soon. With the Mark of Cain affecting Dean, Sam knows that he desperately needs to blow off some steam, and apparently taking Castiel along on a hunt for a feral monster was the perfect remedy.
