    Summary

Kara Zor-El was supposed to follow her infant cousin to Earth.
She was supposed to protect him, raise him, teach him the language of their family, and make certain that the last son of Krypton never grew up alone.
Instead, her pod sacrificed itself to shield Kal-El from a Phantom Zone breach.
    Fifteen years pass on Earth.
For Kara, no time passes at all.
When she finally escapes, she arrives expecting to find a baby in need of her protection. Instead, she finds Clark Kent—a fifteen-year-old boy with human parents, a human home, and an entire life that happened without her.
Clark is afraid Kara will leave.
Kara is afraid Earth will erase everything she still is.
Neither of them knows how to become a family when they are already the last remnants of one.

The Kryptonite arrows hit her and Kara almost laughs.

She wishes that the stupid thing was able to kill her.

(Or, why Kara wasn’t killed by the Kryptonite arrows.)

    Summary

Crimson brake lights bled across the wet asphalt. The sickly green of pawnshop signs flickered from behind streaked windows. An ATM’s electric blue pulse glowed through the drizzle like a slow heartbeat. The city sprawled beneath her not as a collection of neighbourhoods or landmarks but as a circuit board waiting for a current, each road a copper trace, each junction a soldered connection. Lucy liked it this way. The low visibility suited her. The way her tyres sprayed water up onto the curbs felt like a signature. The late night arteries of the city were empty, and empty roads were an excuse, or perhaps a command, to push just a little bit harder.

(All cars with a license plates are actual cars currently driving on Perth, Western Australian roads that drive like jackasses and pissed me and my friends off.)

    Summary

    Annabeth wasn’t foolish.

“For God’s sake, Annabeth, I’ve been courting you.”

    “Percy, you’re just a child.”

“I’m not a child.” He grabbed her arms, pulling her closer. “If I haven’t declared my intentions, it’s because I was waiting for you to be ready. Do you think I bring flowers to just any woman?”

Annabeth felt her heart break. He was so sure, so determined. And she felt so guilty.

    “Percy, you’re confused, darling.”

“Don’t call me darling. I know exactly what I want. I know what I feel.” His voice cracked. “Please, marry me. Don’t reject me.”
