Heat rises onto Max's cheeks at the thought of what they've planned. It's forbidden and unholy and frankly, extremely hot. Lewis had approached Max with the idea not too long ago and he was not averse to it in the slightest. Except for the obvious risk they were taking this was something that Max knew Lewis needed on some level and for that exact reason they had chosen this chapel anyway.

The day Alec died had been a day like any other. It was a spring day, and the sky had been clear without a cloud in sight, only the wide expanse of never-ending blue visible. They said he died alone.
In the morning Magnus had made a comment on the balcony about the way the soft light had made Alec shine as the breeze was rustling his hair. Had kissed him goodbye for the day.
In the evening he sat beside Alec’s body in the cold institute.
