Summary
He always feels a bit like they’re stuck in a race where Jungkook is faster than him. Where he’s miles ahead and unreachable in a way that’s unfathomable. Where Jimin is struggling to keep up and is forever destined to stare at Jungkook’s back, a hand perpetually extended to try and reach for him.
Jimin doesn’t want to surpass Jungkook. He just wants to run alongside him. As an equal, as a friend, as a partner. Is that truly so much to ask for?
Or: Following the end of their Vietnam trip, Jimin stumbles across a video compilation of the rocky relationship he had with Jungkook at the very beginning of their debut years. Summary
“Haruhi -” Kaoru quickly goes to scold her, but when he glances up at whoever made the poor choice of offending Haruhi, his words catch in his throat.
So do Haruhi’s, if only for a moment; the anger abruptly turns into recognition as she cries out gleefully, “Papa!”
Kaoru can’t even stop Haruhi from running over to the person, her happy, bubbly laughs trailing behind her, because said person is the one she inherited her green hair, deep brown eyes, and infectious smile from.
He - Kojiro, Kaoru realizes with belated shock - immediately drops the trash bag in his hand and crouches down with a big, enthusiastic hug as he hoists her up, his hands under her arms and swinging her a bit in the air. Kaoru wants to call out, to tell him to be careful with her, but he’s so paralyzed by the surprise of seeing him that nothing comes out of his mouth.

Kojiro and Kaoru are suddenly thrust back into each other's lives, years after their whirlwind romance that resulted in a child. Now, Kaoru has to struggle with nearly half a decade's worth of guilt and regret.
