   Summary

   While Ilya is in therapy in 'The Long Game' we learn that he tells Shane he can sleep with other people while they are apart during hockey season. It is mentioned briefly that this leads to a fight and three days of Shane ignoring him. Only then does Ilya realize how devastated he would be if Shane took him up on that offer. This is one way it could have played out.
