Drops to his knees with a yell of rage, stabbing at the ground, grass flying in shining green clumps, wondering if he can expose the guts of the arena, if he will find some nefarious Capitol device that's trapped him in this loop, something to tell him what to do. How to end this.
Maysilee begins to scream in the distance, and his head spins, his feet moving even in the belief that he can't do this again, that he can't watch her die.
Always her, in every loop. Her blood on his hands, in his memory, her choked off last words. The one he can't save.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking consequence of this promise to erase Andrea is that the expensive clothes are wasted. Stuffed to the back of her closet, because she is unable to look at them. (In her weaker moments, she puts the clothes on and imagines they still smell like Andy. Even though she knows it is a lie.) All she can hear when she catches a glimpse of them gathering dust is the dial tone ringing and ringing and nobody picking up.

That pit returns in her stomach, weighing her down like a cannonball had formed inside of her. She has to grip onto her desk to keep herself from fainting.

Sam doesn’t believe it at first. Honestly, when her body lands on the mat she is more shell shocked than in pain. Even though the kick on the stomach was strong and the fall was hard, it doesn’t really register, because the referee is lifting Tory’s arm and declaring her a winner. She lost.
