“But,” Glinda protests weakly, “they saw us together at the press briefing just yesterday. I showed off my ring to that photographer from Ozmopolitan.”
Morrible smiles. It is a grim thing, inhuman in a most off putting sort of way, teeth too white and lips curled too widely in the early morning air. Glinda would recoil only she’s trying quite hard not to show her hand, these days. “You love him, don’t you?”
Glinda nods. There is a terrible knot in her throat, she swallows around it but it only grows.
“Then act like it.”

Summary
“You know, Elphaba,” Glinda starts and there’s a hint of shock that lights up Elphaba’s eyes at the mention of her name, “a phone is a prized possession, but you clearly don’t share the same sentimentation since you just left it behind in a bathroom. I mean, of all places…”
“Yeah, well-” Elphaba begins, face scrunched in frustration, sharp finger pointed viciously at Glinda, before she falters and loses steam, settles for crossing her arm and looking away.
“Maybe, I’m just not as attached to mine as you are.” She says finally, drawing her gaze back suddenly and sharply, and Glinda can’t help the way her eyebrows raise and her eyes widen as Elphaba stares her down.
She doesn’t know how to respond, didn’t expect this fire from this background extra, and so she can only watch as the silence stretches for a moment before Elphaba marches her way up to her, snatches her phone from her freshly-painted nails, then leaves.

Nothing about Elphaba Thropp particularly interested Glinda Upland. At least, not until Glinda discovered Elphaba's secret.

Summary
As time went on, the visits occurred more often, though Elphaba never gave Glinda the satisfaction of a pattern. She liked to imagine her rushing home from her socialite engagements, trying to make it home before 11, in case Elphaba dropped by and she missed her. Glinda was familiar, in that way. Elphaba could always imagine what she was up to and feel like she was relatively close. As the visits grew more frequent, one thing led to another, and soon they were back to being almost comfortable, almost roommates again, in a strange way. Elphaba was sneaking in after Glinda was asleep just to get a warm bed and a quiet night, and Glinda was saying “I love you.”
