Eighteen months ago, Eddie had woken up in a crowded hospital room, heavily bandaged and terribly confused. Dustin was there to catch him up on the end of the battle, on everything Eddie missed. The town was split in four, Max was comatose and unresponsive, and Vecna was nowhere to be found.
They lost.
Eddie had died.
His heart stopped, but Dustin, that stubborn fucker, wouldn’t accept it. He did CPR until Steve, Nancy, and Robin found them. Nancy took over, unrelenting until the faintest pulse brought Eddie back from wherever he was headed. They dragged him through the gate and rushed him to the hospital, which was already overwhelmed with victims of the split. The earthquake, as the government declared it. Eddie was rushed into surgery, and he survived.
Or
A Stranger Things 5 rewrite, if Eddie had lived. And then he and Steve fall in love, obviously.

Theodore is under the mind-tripping effects of a poorly cast Jelly Brain jinx shot to the face when he stumbles on Harry Potter, prince of the Gryffindor tower and Lighter than thou, gossiping with a deadly viper three inches away from his face.

He’s never been much of a believer in religion in general, sees too much to ever consider of a kind spirit above but sometimes he still finds himself praying for it to stop, for the world to be lifted off his shoulders. No resolution comes, and his offerings remain rejected. He continues to see.

Summary
Here's what happened. James and Lily had died to protect their son. They had done it all for Harry, did everything they could to ensure his safety and happiness. All for Albus to dump him at Petunia's where he was neglected and abused.
Lily had seen it, sort of. The afterlife was weird like that. You could watch your living loved ones but not directly. It wasn't like turning on the telly and watching their lives. It was more of a feeling with flashes of memories. She could feel her son's pain, his confusion, his fear, his hopelessness. Every once in a while she could see him too, locked up in his little cupboard, not bothering to cry because he knew that tears would only bring more pain. She could feel his hunger, his desperation. It was eating her alive... Well... Not alive. That was the problem.
The afterlife was supposed to bring them peace, it was supposed to be their final resting place, but Lily couldn't rest, not when Harry was wasting away in some dark hole and nobody was doing anything to fix it.
She was his mother, and she was going to fix it. And if that ment dragging her husband and their new friend back through the veil to the land of the living, then so be it.
