A few weeks after Trost, Eren Jaeger is placed under Captain Levi’s command as the only known human who can become a Titan. The trial is over. The paperwork is settled. What begins next is something quieter and far more dangerous.

Summary
An all-seeing mind is not all-knowing. Eren Jaeger is blindsided by his sudden and unexpected presentation; and like the dutiful soldier he masquerades as all he can really do is grit his teeth and keep his head down when he is told in no uncertain terms that he will have to be mated and marked, lest this unexpected heat kill him, Paradis' only true weapon. The Devil has made his bed and will be made to lie down in it, but Eren knows all too well it will not be his final resting place. That was a detrimental mistake, letting Eren have a choice. One should never give an ember the offer of the whole forest.
The fact that Eren chooses Levi Ackerman, his Captain, his executioner, changes nothing - yet everything all at once.

"I'm not good," Levi repeats, but now his forehead touches Eren's, their noses brush, and his breath is pure fire. "I'm not the man you think I am. When I let go... there's no going back. I've seen the way they look at me after. With fear. With disgust."
"I don't fear you," Eren whispers, and he says it with such absolute certainty that it breaks something inside Levi — something he didn't even know was still intact. "I want you. And I want you to give me everything. Every hit you've held back. Every bite you've swallowed. Every scream you've silenced. Give me everything, Levi. Because I can take it. I want to take it. I've always wanted you. Not a soft version. Not a controlled version. You."
Levi squeezes his eyes shut. His whole body trembles. It's the first time in years someone has looked at him like that — not with fear, not with naivety, with devotion, with hunger returned.
PS: Erwin doesn't die in the battle against Zeke and becomes Commander-in-Chief instead of Zackley. Eren tells everyone the truth and tries to stop the Rumbling — an alternate canon where Eren gets to be happy, where he falls in love with his captain along the way, and where Eren discovers a side of Levi that no one else knows.Bookmarked by May03
