Summary
Ryland Grace decided if he survived the Hail Mary he'd swear off adventure forever. A man only got so many miracles, and Grace was well aware his bank was running on empty. Content to stay on Erid with his friends and students, living out the rest of his life forever removed but never alone, he was convinced that his days galavanting off planet were over.
However, when a second moon teleports into Erid's orbit, Grace is reminded all too quickly that some things are simply not his decision to make. In an attempt to keep his newfound home safe, Grace and Rocky track the origin of a singular transmitting radio wave and find themselves face to face with an unlikely survivor, as well as the deadly pathogen he and all of the blood on their new moon carry. Unable to return to Erid after being exposed, Grace and Simon must navigate the newly terraformed moon and find the source of both their mutations, or risk it breaking containment and infecting all of Erid. It feels like an insurmountable task, especially given Simon and Grace's clashing ideas of 'minimal casualties'. At the very least they can both agree on one thing: this time, neither one of them is going to do it alone.

Grace’s voice hinged on a sob and he cut himself off, body convulsing around Simon’s cock as pleasure coursed through him from the fifth egg settling deep in his guts. Simon clung to him like a lifeline, fingers clutching Grace’s thigh hard enough to bruise. When Grace gets seemingly teleported by means unknown into the SM-13 right as it was nearing The Light, both Simon and Grace have no idea what is happening. Grace knows he was supposed to be in his house on Erid, Simon knows this new guy cannot possibly be a hallucination, and Ava, upon hearing Grace ramble about theories for how he got there, knows that new guy is Smart. Could-Secure-Our-Survival Smart.
