“Um,” Vi said. Shit, was she really so horny she was hallucinating her girlfriend?
She heard a sharp intake of breath. Across the rooms, Caitlyn’s eye widened at the sight before her. She slowly stepped into the room, leaning back against the door and shutting it behind her.
Even in the silvery light of the moon, Vi could make out her girlfriend’s very flushed face.
“Hi,” Caitlyn offered lamely. Vi slid off of the pillow in a belated attempt to save face.
“I… I thought you weren’t supposed to be back until the day after tomorrow.”

“Would it be alright if I just worked here for tonight?” Lan Zhan makes an aborted noise that, if someone was being generous, could be called a cough. Wei Ying shifts his focus back to the paper below him and continues, “I don’t have to, I just thought it might be easier since I’ve already got all my stuff here, and I just need a little bit of light and I’ll be gone before you know it! But it’s fine if not, really I just—”
“You may stay,” Lan Zhan cuts him off with more confidence than he feels. He doesn’t know why it feels like this is crossing some line into uncharted waters, but the air is heavy with it. He turns back to the mirror before he can see Wei Ying’s reaction.
There’s a beat of silence in which Lan Zhan can hear the rushing of blood in his ears before Wei Ying breathes, “Thanks.”
(Or: Lan Zhan and Wei Ying slowly move in together. Without knowing.)

Summary
Teru sets the skateboard down on the pavement between him and Shigeo. Taking a couple deep breaths, grounding himself, before he steps up. Shigeo just watches him with mild curiosity. I’ll land it this time, he promises himself. The steps are simple enough in theory: flick, jump, slide. He just needs to do this and then maybe Shigeo will be so astonished by his skateboarding prowess that he’ll finally see him as more than a friend. That’s the plan, anyway.
He shifts one foot to the tail of the board, slams down on the end, jumps, shifts his feet back, and—
Slides right off the board, landing flat on his front on the concrete street outside of Shigeo’s house.

Summary

Summary
He Xuan didn’t have enough fingers on her hands to count the number of times that she ended up chaperoning Shi Qingxuan home from a party just in the last few months. She would always say she wouldn’t drink so much, really, she would promise to stay completely sober, and then of course one jar of wine would become two and then three and so on until she ends up so drunk she can’t walk straight. So of course it would fall upon He Xuan to walk her home, because—well, she couldn’t just leave her there, drinking herself into oblivion, and Shi Wudu wouldn’t usually be there, so.
So now she’s here, in Shi Qingxuan’s palace, trying to herd her into her bed chambers so they can both be done with this night.
Shi Qingxuan seems to have other plans, though. When He Xuan starts walking towards the hall where the bedroom is, Shi Qingxuan stops, halting both of them in their steps. She wraps her arms around He Xuan from behind, draping her entire weight against her back as she hooks her chin over her shoulder. “Ming-jieee,” she whines, her breath ghosting across He Xuan’s collarbones. It’s warm on her skin, smells like the wine she had been drinking.

Summary
It shouldn’t have been surprising. Humans were very feeble creatures. They got cuts and bruises, infections and diseases, and they all eventually would die one way or the other. Shi Qingxuan had become human again, and it really was only a matter of time before he got sick.
But to He Xuan, this all seemed impossible. Even if he was the one who stripped Shi Qingxuan of his godhood, the one who sentenced him to this. But he thought Shi Qingxuan would live a long life of suffering until he died a slow death. He didn’t think that he would end up so sick only a few years later.
Shi Qingxuan was dying, and it was too early. He wasn’t supposed to die yet. He needed to suffer more, to feel all the different ways He Xuan had suffered in his mortal life, the ways that Shi Qingxuan himself was fated to suffer.
At least, that was what He Xuan told himself as he picked up Shi Qingxuan and carried him back to his manor.
