There it was - that stupid word which Ilya heard himself being called throughout his entire childhood, making it's appearance again.

After a really bad day at work, Shane lashes out on Ilya, calling him useless and making him think that Shane would leave him eventually. Ilya, just trying to make his husband his favourite dinner, is left alone to hide in their bathroom, that word that he was referred as, echoing in his mind.
Afraid of Shane realizing that Ilya is good-for-nothing and that he only makes his life more inconvenient, Ilya desperately tries to make himself as invisible and unimposing as he can.

David never walked in on Shane and Ilya at the Cottage. Yuna and Ilya work together for the Foundation, with Yuna still under the impression that he and Shane are just friends. But she is worried about him - he seems very quiet since he moved to Ottawa, not at all like the Rozanov she saw in the media previously.
Perhaps she should call Shane to discuss her fears that Ilya is depressed. Ilya needs his friends around him after all. Yuna suspects a toxic relationship with this absent, neglectful partner Jane. She's sure Shane can support his friend.
