Dick gets a call in the midst of his heat informing him that Bruce has been kidnapped and is likely compromised due to an Ivy concoction. Dick refuses to get any of his family involved, well aware how dangerous Bruce is when in a rage. Slade is unfortunately the only person Dick can think of that can go toe to toe with a feral Batman long enough for a rescue.

It's a good idea in theory, but Hood has more resources and more pent up anger toward the Batfamily than they initially realized. When confronted with the limitations of the family's moral code and the idea that some villains are past the point of saving, he struggles not to think of his own bloody upbringing in the League of Assassins.
