Butsuma carried him for months, agonizing over how much he might take after his sire. He sent away all the medics and sequestered himself in his birthing den. He bled and suffered to bring the pup into this world, screamed himself hoarse during delivery, wept for the first time in years when he heard those first reedy cries split the air.
