Summary
Merlin adores being a doctor, more than he ever thought would be possible. He does. It’s fulfilling. It’s amazing.
The problem he never saw coming is that people at the club get reckless when he’s on duty. For some reason, knowing that there’s a bona fide medical doctor stalking the halls means that people think that this is their best chance to go nuts. Merlin likes that they feel safe enough under his watch to test their boundaries, but there’s also a part of him that hates it. He’s here to get away from work, not to have more of it, goddamnit.

The mattress shifted, Buck started to pull away, his heat disappearing from his side.
His hand shot out, wrapping around Buck’s middle, dragging him back in with surprising strength for someone who was barely awake.
“Move and I’m breaking up with you,” he mumbled into Buck’s skin, voice gravelly and thick with sleep.
Buck snorted, laughter low and fond. “You wouldn’t.”
“Wanna try me?”
Buck stilled, before he softly answered, “...Five more minutes.”
He smiled, slow and smug, lips brushing against the curve of Buck’s neck.
“Good boy.”

It was so odd, and he didn’t get it. He’d seen his sisters do it once and even his primas.
Shannon had done it to Eddie once. She snickered and finally explained it to his poor little brain. “Well, you know when you see a cute baby, you wanna pinch their cheeks? Or a cute puppy or baby kitten, and you instinctively want to squeeze them? It’s the same as that. Cuteness Agression.”
And Eddie gets it…maybe? Not really. He’s never had that urge at all.
Then, finally, years later. A divorced best friend that both co-parent their child together, a move from El Paso to Los Angeles and becoming a firefighter later, meeting a particular blue-eyed, blonde sunshine, Eddie fucking gets it.
