Summary
He looked up and there was Derek.
That was not unusual nowadays. Ever since Scott had gotten bit Stiles could turn his head in any direction and there Derek would be, looming and irritable. But Stiles didn't usually see Derek when he was out and about in town, doing chores.
Stiles patted his mother's headstone. Not that you're a chore, mom, he thought. He stood, brushed off his jeans, and waved to Derek, who was standing stiffly in the distance with less of the air of a werewolf and more that of a startled rabbit.
Slowly, Derek made his way through a maze of memorials, graves, and floral wreaths to Stiles.
---
Stiles and Derek unexpectedly meet at the cemetery and talk about grief and love.

stay awhile by EnduringParadox
Beautiful and honest insight of two different but close pains, connecting through the sore tenderness of grief. Carnation on lips and a seed in the heart. It's all so human and simultaneously otherworldly. Lovely and touching in its purposeful simplicity. I often think about "...Every day was a goodbye..."

Cadence by carorines
A house becomes the extension of a lonely heart, slow heaving with hope, and a piano solo finally blossoms into a duet.
Emotional, joyful, sacred and dear. Everyone's is perfectly in character, the most Found Family to ever. The writing style is beautiful and flows like a melody, favorite line may be "like the months apart had never happened, or had happened and made this moment more precious." -

are you gonna eat that? by fanficreader5
It's a romcom between two weirdos having fun verbally fencing in probably the most hilarious dialogue ever.
Every character felt pleasant, real, strong, faithful to canon, with no one overshadowing or being overshadowed.
This work is like a love letter to the beautiful mess of being human.
Very suggestive wording but nothing happens. -

Smooth Landing by YouRunWithTheWolves
Two stressed jerk strangers in a little stressful enclosed space like an airport during a storm cannot stop themselves from arguing in what is just the funniest verbal tennis match on top of the cutest and weirdest romantic tension. Poor airplane was weighted down by having to carry their ridiculous romcom chemistry.
The ending gets a bit suggestive but only with words not actions.
This series/author is hilarious. -

Chaotically obvious, silly, smitten force, meaning Stiles, meets repressed and oblivious but equally silly and smitten object, meaning Derek, in this funny and sweet little glimpse of their domesticity, where secret crushes are not that secret.

Ghost Town Howls by Alexdoesthings
A little psychological horror masterpiece that is to be considered a fandom classic in my humble opinion.
Loved the concept and I recognize there could've been more potential towards the end but I'm left satisfied and honestly shaken.
One of the most visceral and dramatic romantic dynamic with a happy ending. Be mindful of the tags, but this love in the outer limits of survival tastes poetically like Sterek. -

“What the hell are you smiling about?”
Ava's cheeks flush. "Just—" she looks at Deborah, and is stunned into silence; blonde strands escaping her cap, mascara smudged under her eyes, a bead of rain trickling down her forehead. She smiles, slightly wavering, and Ava doesn't think she's ever seen anyone so beautiful.
Or, the one where Ava asks Deborah to kiss the bee sting.

Jack in the Box by Vaneh
The world building is straightforward, matter of fact, immersive and believable while also flowing easily. The tone is dark and a bit gorey but pleasantly crisp, raw and symbolic. Sterek canon epitome of brutal bluntness, plain but intense romanticism and implicit trust. Their entire love fits nowhere else but inside the hard skin of their cupped hands.

In this little moment, nothing exists other than them, very romantic and intimate although a bit bittersweet. Delicate and subtle in its simplicity, a good way to glimpse into and understand more the characters' souls. They're not glued together wrong, just differently than everyone else, but that actually makes them gravitationally similar to each other. They can be different together.

Summary
Witches are now officially Stiles’ least favorite. They suck. He hates them and their stupid human sacrificial rituals, and their stupid evil knives.
Call him biased because one of said stupid knives is buried to the hilt in his chest, but Stiles doesn’t care. He’s bleeding out, lying in a bed of leaves and rocks, staring up at a canopy of trees and stars. Witches are the worst.

I Wanted To Do The Timewrap But Oh God Not Like This by CrimsonMoonn, ReformedTsundere
Clever and creative approach to time loops. The tone is very informal and casual which goes along with Stiles's stream of consciousness, the locations are pretty clear and atmospheric, the characterization is nice, Stiles is 18 here which would make Derek 21, and there's the right balance between funny and sad.
While mindful of the tags, this is an interesting read to try.

Summary
“Stiles,” Scott says, but Stiles shushes him, and presses play.
Immediately, voices blare out of the tinny little speakers. The image is blurry at first, like the camera was being waved around, and then it clears up. Filling most of the frame is a table with about a hundred kids around it, all crowding a scrawny boy with jet black hair and a ten thousand watt smile.
Derek, Stiles thinks, although he’s barely recognizable. How could that be Derek Hale?
Or, Stiles finds a box of home videos in the burnt down Hale house. Things get complicated.

does not heal by splinnters
The developing friendship is so delicate, already becoming a sweet young love but without rushing. The characterization is nice, the writing flows easily but handles the emotional topics well and realistically, makes you realize just how young these boys are and how meaningful and sacred it is that they found each other. Stinging eyes that finally cry and the quiet mess of feeling.

I Need You (To Need Me) by KiiKitsune
The atmosphere is grotesque and psychological, simple yet dark, the imagery just so sleek and visceral.
It's not unsympathetic while also being factual, just on the verge of impartial, and since both characters are morally ambiguous in the show, here they can share a sense of belonging and togetherness over the shock. Their trust is immediate, implicit, instinctual and intimate and it feels like a relieving heart jolt.
While mindful of the tags, don't be discouraged.
The Rating is just for the dark topics. -

Say a Prayer (Bury My Name) by clotpolesonly
Very descriptive in a direct and simple way that's effective and evocative but also introspective. The atmosphere is like clay mollifying and mixing the trauma of death and the shock of rebirth.
Laura feels very human but she never loses her animal nature either, the two halves complements each other in this sacred and magical moment of weakness and confusion that makes the character feel very realistic and sympathetic but never not strong. -

“It’s what we do.”
It is. It really is.

waiting for the snow by creationmyth
Best Sterek author, their specialty is post-nogitsune and grief. Topics like ptsd, trauma, depression, self-harm and recovery are treated delicately and feel raw and cathartic, so the flavor is less season-one silliness and more introspective psychology. Read this, read all their works, even if you don't know this show. Trust me.
This work in particular is simple but sharp, touching and endearing, sensorial and dreamy but vivid in a magic realism way. I believe the age gap here is roughly 3 years, like canon, and the only one I can draw the line at.
