Summary
“But you misunderstand,” he said smoothly, turning back to Diluc. “You’re not the one who’ll be punished.”
Before Diluc could fully process the words, the large man moved.
Too fast.
He stepped forward, pulled a long, jagged knife from his belt.
———
Or, A strange theft leads Kaeya and Diluc to investigate a break-in on the outskirts of Springvale. What should’ve been a quick mission turns into something far more sinister when they’re captured, and used as leverage in a ploy to steal the winery.

Summary
The entrance collapsed in a spray of dust and stone, the roar of falling rock sealing them in.
Silence.
Kaeya lowered his hand, breathing heavy. Every inhale felt like fire licking his ribs, but he kept his face smooth.
“Well,” he said lightly, eyes never leaving the caved-in wall, “on the bright side, you won’t have to worry about me wandering off.”
———
Or, What was supposed to be a simple mission turns into a nightmare when Kaeya and Diluc are trapped in a collapsed cave—surrounded, injured, and without a way out. Kaeya takes a hit meant for Diluc and tries to hide the wound, but with each passing hour, the fever climbs and their chances of escape dwindle. With no one else coming and Kaeya growing weaker by the minute, Diluc is left to keep them both alive in the dark.

Summary
‘I am aware it was intended as a taunt, but even the most atrocious lies usually have some truth woven into them.’ Venti explained, sounding even more vague than before. ‘Do you really think the world would be better off without you?’
Ah.
So that’s what this was about.
‘You don’t have to worry about me leaping from your statue anytime soon if that’s what you’re thinking.’ Kaeya said, before crossing his arms and sinking back into his chair uncomfortably. ‘I’m here now, so I might as well make the most of it.’
‘But when given the choice…?’
‘If you must know, I do think a significant amount of people could have been spared some trouble if I’d never made it to Mondstadt.’ he admitted against his better judgement. ‘But whatever, I guess.’
Instead of looking amused or smug, Venti just looked concerned. There was that same look of pity in his eyes as Diluc had had moments before, and it bothered Kaeya to no end.
‘You truly believe that, don’t you?’
---
Or: Kaeya is convinced the world would be better off without him in it. In order to prove him wrong, Venti shows him a glimpse of what such a world would look like.
Kaeya does not like what he finds.
