Summary
Bruce shuffled across the floor, trailing the blanket from the armchair in the library. Alfred had sprinkled blankets liberally throughout the Manor once it became clear that in the wake of Thomas and Martha's deaths Bruce would be sleeping in small naps if at all. The boy said something, too quiet for Alfred to hear.
That was more common than not, these days.
“I’m sorry, my boy, I didn’t hear that.” Alfred knelt in front of Bruce. “Could you say it again?”
In the smallest, most bewildered tone Bruce had used in a long time, he said, “I’m hungry.”
Alfred leaned hard on his upbringing to avoid whooping in joy. “Well,” he said instead. “Let’s get you some food, then. Are you hungry for anything in particular?”
