    Izuku Midoriya didn't mean to get married. He just wanted to piss off his mom.

    A fake Craigslist ad for a boyfriend seemed like the perfect way to ruin another uncomfortable dinner. He expected trolls, maybe a scam or two. Not… whatever this was.

    It was supposed to be a joke.
    It’s getting harder to remember that.
    (He didn't think either of them wanted to.)

    "I think I'm in love. Marry me."

    "Come on, Midoriya, think about it. Showing up to the family dinner with a surprise husband in tow? Someone they've never met – never even heard about? Who's…" he cleared his throat, glancing away for a moment with pursed lips, "at least twice your age?"

    Izuku considered it. He hated that he was considering it.

    Mate-pairings between the same sex weren’t against the law or anything, and they weren’t even that taboo. But a pair that couldn’t produce offspring was considered ‘unsuccessful’. Given his father’s standing in society, Izuku could not risk an unsuccessful mate-pairing. He was Japanese political royalty, and no social prince born of Hisashi Midoriya would be unsuccessful. 
    Izuku swallowed hard, nodding as his mother gently shoved him back towards the cliff ledge. 
    “Make us proud, sweetie.”

    OR: On his 16th birthday, Izuku has to choose a young woman to court, but he truly can't think of any girl his age he'd want to date. No one holds a candle to his best friend, but does he really have a choice?

    “I get paid tomorrow,” he says, setting his chopsticks down to take a sip of water. “They’re giving me a raise, soon.” And Ochako wonders if that means she can get new shoes before the school year starts, but she doesn’t ask because she doesn’t want to get told no. Her stomach grumbles, but both she and her parents ignore it.)

    Ochako puts the box back in the pantry. She’s hungry, sure, and Aizawa did tell them anything in the kitchen is fair game for them to eat, but she doesn’t think she should, not right now. She can wait for breakfast. It’s embarrassing, to be the one to use up all this expensive, nice food. Ochako takes a step back from the pantry, shutting the door quietly.
