Dean is all grown up now, and with Sam off to college, Dean doesn't know what his purpose is anymore. He's determined to find it.
“Captain says this is him, repeat, we have found the package. Medics requested at the pick-up point for evacuation.”
English. That was English.
Dean squinted through the light and saw a figure approaching him. He moved back even further against the wall.
“Hey, kid it’s alright, you’re safe now,” the figure spoke, reaching towards his pocket and pulling out an earpiece. “We’re the good guys, I promise. And someone has been waiting a long time to say hi,” he says, holding out the earpiece to Dean.
The soldier hesitantly took the device and placed it in his ear.

As Dean blew out the candles, Tony clung to Steve’s side and looked at their son’s face in awe. He didn’t know if this was the first time the boy had candles to blow, but he knew it wouldn’t be the last. Drawn from his musings, he felt a buzz from his pocket.
“Steve,” he whispered, looking at the screen in shock.
“Hmm?” the man responded, looking away from the recording he was taking on his phone.

Steve and Tony were, at one point foster parents, but now they’ve adopted four kids and are waiting on the fifth.

“Hollander.” Ilya said, with some panic creeping in to his voice, as he watched Shane’s eyes flick everywhere all at once. Ilya lifted an arm, and let it go just over Shane’s own thigh. It came down, with no resistance to the drop.
Still pinning him up with one hand, he squatted on the locker room floor just in front of Shane. “Have you seen this before, Coach?” Ilya asked. He surely hadn’t.
“It’s new to me, Rosanov. I think I have to get medical involved. Can you watch him until I get back?”
“Please hurry.” Ilya sat back next to Shane on the bench, one of his one legs over Shane’s, and one hand lightly on his neck to keep his head steady. His other hand ran the largest circles he could on Shane’s back. He wouldn’t say it out loud, but maybe this was a panic attack.

“Well. I came out to the team as gay a few weeks ago. Apparently they decided they’d rather spend their time calling me a ‘geisha whore’ and standing around than doing their fucking jobs,” Shane said, dejectedly. He kept his voice low as they got into position for the game to start so the ref wouldn’t hear. His eyes trained on the ground, ready for the drop. He couldn’t force himself to look at Ilya in that moment.
“What.” Rozanov’s voice was low as he growled the word out.
Shane braved a glance upwards, hoping he wouldn’t see more disgust. While he did find it in Ilya’s eyes, it seemed to also be mixed with a twinge of sadness and pure, unadulterated anger. Ilya let out a harsh puff of breath.
Unsure of how Ilya felt about his confession, Shane went on, “Yeah it’s whatever man. Sorry, I shouldn’t have-“
“No. You don’t apologize. Motherfuckers.”
AU where Shane is slightly older than Ilya. Shane captains the metros while Ilya captains the centaurs. Shane tries to come out to his teammates and much to the horror of the centaurs, they do not take it well.
