However, he soon becomes enthralled by one, and he’s left pondering on what’s under the surface of the life he’s fabricated to be with her.
If this life is, at all, more than foolishly hoping for something that could never be.

“Be a good girl and listen, will you?” he murmured in her ear, lacing his tone with just enough suggestibility for her to be able to detect other intentions behind his words. Of course, he had no actual intentions of taking her to bed—not now, though she wasn’t drunk.
“You’ll reward me if I do?” she whispered back after what felt like an hour, partially looking back at him. Xiao almost nibbled on her earlobe to get his point across, but held himself back and simply swallowed.
“I will.”
After using an underhanded tactic to make Lumine take a break from drinking, Xiao is coaxed into keeping the promise he made.
