Jakurai was not immortal, not immune to the constant despair he was shrouded in due to his expertise that he was so benevolently given. His mental fortitude was strong without a doubt; Jakurai would not have made it far in this field without it, but with each patient he was too late to save and with each injured soldier groaning songs of agony, lining the cold, dirty soil of his field hospital he felt that fortitude slowly dwindling.
