Summary
The war is over.
Hermione Granger knows this because Voldemort is dead, Hogwarts has been rebuilt, and the Ministry keeps saying the word peace as if repetition can make it true.
But peace does not stop her hand from shaking. It does not erase the word Bellatrix Lestrange carved into her skin. It does not make Harry sleep through the night, or Ron stop checking doors, or the Slytherins any less alone at their table. It does not bring Hermione’s parents home from the life she sent them into to keep them safe.
Returning to Hogwarts for eighth year was supposed to be simple: finish school, sit NEWTs, survive the stares.
Instead, Hermione finds herself researching residual curse damage, working in Severus Snape’s private potions lab, forming an unlikely friendship with Theodore Nott, and slowly discovering that the Dark Marks left behind after Voldemort’s death may not be so different from the scar on her own arm.
Healing, Hermione learns, is not the opposite of fighting.

A high priority Justice League summons wasn’t unusual, on account of the numerous times that someone found out about an imminent invasion or an apocalypse or that there was a threat from beyond time. Usually only the leaguers on hand and available would come to these summons.
But when John Constantine calls a summons, you go.
“Alright, don’t get your panties in a twist you ‘lot. We’re just gettin’ a couple visitors who’ll be stayin’ in Gotham for the next year or so. High priority that they stay alive.”
Batman growled “Are they a threat?”
Constantine did a smoke before answering “Nah, worse.”
The tension worsened in the league battle room.
“They’re expecting.”

Clockwork has an idea that leads to Danny striking a deal with Lady Gotham. In exchange for sanctuary, Danny will filter her corrupted ectoplasm. She tells him that if he's in any danger, then Danny may go to her Knights. But Danny's not the type of person to go asking others for help. Especially if he thinks he can handle it by himself.What Danny doesn't know is that the Knights of Gotham are very interested in meeting this new Meta that keeps popping up. He doesn't know that Lady Gotham is very invested in him meeting her Knights. Danny doesn't know that he's caught the eye of a certain undead Knight.
Danny is not ready for this new stage of his life, but he's going to commit to being a True Gothamite!
