Summary
At thirteen, Gold gets his first soulmate letter; an S, inked onto his skin with messy, barely legible strokes. Instead of the letter putting an end to the crush he has on Silver, it only makes it worse, and he convinces himself that his letters will spell out Silver’s name, marking them as soulmates.
That hope is crushed only a year later, when his second letter appears, beginning to spell out someone else’s name.
Silver is sixteen when he gets his first letter, a year after he saw the name that Gold’s letters were spelling, and knew there was no way they could be soulmates.
Only for his letters to slowly spell out Gold’s name over the course of the next year.
