When Tommy first arrived in Jackson and thought he’d never see his brother again he confessed all his, and Joel’s, sins for everyone to judge. That, combined with the state Ellie is in when Joel and Ellie arrive, means Jackson wants to take Ellie away from Joel and find her “proper” parents.
Joel and Ellie don’t want to separate, but neither of them are ready to get back on the road just yet. Ellie endures family after family trying to make her stay while Joel experiences a fear over 20 years old: being separated from his daughter and fighting for custody.
Both of them have to define what they mean to each other after, and if Jackson can be their home after all.

Every muscle in her body goes still, icicles frozen into her veins at the sudden sound of a voice, faint and quiet, through the radio. Her fingers clench around the radio, eyes wide, jaw slack.
“Hello?” The voice comes through again, crackly. Through the fuzz of distance, Ellie thinks she can make out a slight southern drawl. It’s a man. A southern man. She doesn’t know of anyone like that who works at the station.

The woman is standing near the console, the same height as Aloy. Same color red hair, but shorter. Her face is different in that it looks older, with more pronounced smile lines. She looks tired. Worn. It's Elisabet in a way Aloy has never seen her before, without the holo's filter of blue light layered over her image. Real and tangible.

Aloy helps restore GAIA. In return, GAIA decides to bring back Elisabet, and that's where things get messy.

A little bit of Jopper (maybe more than a little) and very little Mileven for you shippers. I know Season 3 is long done and 4 is in production, but I loved Season 2 and the relationship between Eleven and Hopper.
