This is essentially based off that one tumblr (I think it was tumblr) post that basically went; ‘for all we know a number of things could’ve happened after they run away from the party and stay out in the library. After all Sherlock has to ask ‘For clarity’s sake we didn’t steal those scrolls’ Yes that is exactly where I got the fic name from do not judge me lol.

At his call, James, that was already in the back close to him, with Cordelia and Shou'an– Xiao Wei in the front, turns around with a curious eye. "What is it? Didn't you like my newest party trick?"
"It's not that," Sherlock weakly smiles at his friend and shakes his head. Then, with his hand, he opens his jacket enough to show the red stain that's growing over his vest.

Or, James helps Sherlock after he tears his stitches at the bar, and takes the opportunity to come clean about what happened earlier that day.

Summary
Their hands were one of the few differences that Sherlock could see between them. James was right, Sherlock primarily had everything set for himself. He never truly had to work for anything he wanted. The only time he ever had his hands dirtied was when he got himself imprisoned the first time. And even then, he had gotten himself in trouble simply for the adventure of it. He never needed to become a petty thief, not in the slightest, not like his prisonmates.
Not like James.
Definitely not like James.“These hands are capable of doing more than just fighting, you know.” James commented offhandedly.
