Summary
Xiao has always been the type to blend into the background, quietly shunning attention and preferring the solace of solitude. Unlike most people his age, he despises talking to others and goes out of his way to remain unseen.
Then there’s Aether, a bright presence on campus and everything Xiao isn’t. Outgoing, friendly, and a familiar face to nearly everyone at the university, Aether seems to have a kind word or smile for everyone he meets. He’s well-known for his warmth, even down to the cleaning staff, who often share stories of his generosity and kindness.
Their paths cross on a day that’s darker for Xiao than most. He finds himself on the rooftop of the university building, the weight of his past and his pain pushing him to the edge, quite literally. His thoughts are a tangled mess of despair, and he’s on the verge of giving in to them. But just as he’s about to make a life-altering choice, Aether appears on the rooftop, oblivious to the crisis unfolding before him.
In that pivotal moment, Aether unknowingly becomes Xiao’s lifeline. His unexpected arrival stops Xiao in his tracks, altering a fate that seemed inevitable.
