Grey looked at her, his eyes full of pity. She refused to meet his gaze. “Sometimes, when people are hurting, they get really good at hiding things, Lucy. You know that better than anyone.”

The woman turns, and for half a second, she does look like Ashley. The blonde hair, the clothes, the shape of her silhouette in the dim light. But then she smiles as she faces him fully, and his heart promptly sinks into his chest.

Lucy was fine.

Until he comes back and she’s coding, and suddenly “fine” turns into a 5% chance, a machine keeping her alive, and 72 hours that will decide everything.
No one can explain how it happened.
No one can promise she’ll wake up.
He doesn’t understand how they got here.
He doesn’t understand how he’s supposed to let her go.But as the hours slip away, Tim is forced to confront something he’s never been ready for.

Based on a Twitter fan's dream, Lucy is hurt in the hospital, limp and dying, but please make it a happy ending. Set sometime in season 8.

“Oh, I know,” he says, a smile dancing across his lips as he steps into her space, close enough that she can feel the heat radiating off of her body and feel his breath as he speaks. “Big one."
