‘The Ministry really have no choice but to enforce marriages on the population,’ said another source who is supposedly in favour of the law, ‘there is even discussion of an amendment to the proposed law which would make it a requirement of all currently unattached Muggle-borns and pureblooded wizards and witches to undergo fertility testing to assign the best matches.’
This was most likely just a scare tactic, encouraging people to marry now before they were forced to marry someone they didn’t choose later. Even if it wasn’t, the purebloods still had a strong enough hold on the Ministry that the law wouldn’t be passed. Right?

5 years after the war Hermione finds out her life is falling apart by two articles published by The Daily Prophet. Lydia was well aware that she was pretty. She wouldn't catch the attention of every other male if she weren't. But it was hard to feel pretty when all they did was stare at her face, then her breasts, before inevitably bringing their eyes down to her crippled leg.
"Shame," they'd mutter under their breath before walking away. At least, that's what happened when she was lucky. When she was unlucky... well, they just saw prey that couldn't escape.
All but the shadowslinger who came to her in the night. He was different. For one, he never looked at her like he found her attractive in any way, shape, or form. That was certainly different. Then there was the small business of him being her mate... but if he wasn't going to acknowledge it, Lydia wasn't about to either.
