“Everything is a game. You either win or you lose, and crying over broken hearts definitely sounds like something a sore loser would do to justify their failure.”
They stared at each other. Was that a veiled dig at him crying over his own tragic relationship or was Lucifer overthinking it?
“You’re one sadistic motherfucker.”
As his smile turned pleasant again, Alastor snapped his fingers and a bottle appeared on the counter between them.
“Let’s drink to that.”

This fic is 50% what I imagine can happen in Season 3 plot-wise, 50% radioapple inventing aroace romance, and 100% Alastor being his normal, charming self. -

Alastor is insulted by an offhand comment, and Lucifer tries to help him feel better. Unfortunately, he's not great at this.

Summary
Alastor, as the truly altruistic being that he was, had helped avert the crisis for a small fee. Two deals broken, a fully healed staff, and the electrical thorn in his side removed for the price of bettering his standing in the princess's eyes and appearing to have somewhat of a heart.
He could have gone without the latter.
With that little stunt of his, the power-hungry demon lord had freed himself from years-long shackles. Riding out that high, he had no qualms about getting his hands just a tad bit more dirty, especially if the opportunity arose in the form of a pathetic King. And who was he to decline such a thing?
So when he saw the imbecile of a so-called Ruler crawl out of the rubble, lose his footing, and soon disappear with a snap of his fingers, wounded and alone, Alastor knew this was a chance unlike any other.

Summary
During the rut, bucks become intensely focused on does, actively "tending" or guarding their partner to ensure mating, separating them from other deer, and chasing off rivals. They also start to obsessingly feed their mate, nurturing them to ensure that their bodies is ready to carry their fawns.
Now, imagine Alastor doing that to Lucifer unconsciously and out of pure instinct, and leaving them with a messy aftermath to deal with.
