Summary
Merlin’s mother had made it very clear to him what he should do when she sent him off to Camelot. Merlin wasn’t to tell anyone he had magic, his mother was scared that he would be collared to keep him in line if someone found out. Yet, Camelot was, above all, one of the best places for an alpha warlock to be. In Essitir, the omega king would drag alphas off to his palace once they were old enough, claim them, and use them for their powers. It was a fate that Merlin’s mother had feared him facing since he presented at twelve summers old. It was why, on the eve of his eighteenth summer, she sent him away to the bordering kingdom before Cenred’s men could show up in Elador to take him away. In Camelot Merlin could have a future.
It was a more hopeful future than what he would have in any other kingdom.
Other than Essitir and Camelot, all other kingdoms executed alphas who had magic, mated or not, too afraid of what they could do. Camelot had done the same, once, but that had changed when the Queen had fallen for an alpha sorceress and had taken her as her mate, changing the law to allow mated magical alphas to live in peace.
All Merlin had to do was catch an omega....

He was also older. Arthur wasn’t sure just how much older, maybe a decade or a decade and a half, but he was older and broader and the sight of him made Arthur’s mouth go dry and his pussy squeeze down on nothing, leaking slick into his underwear.
He stumbled backward a bit in shock.
Merlin had frozen when he entered the door. Arthur watched his eyes widen in clear surprise at the sight of him.
“MERLIN YOU OAF WHAT IS TAKING YOU SO LONG?” A very familiar voice shouted. Arthur had never heard the sound of his own voice from outside of his head before, it made him stumble backwards in shock.
Right after the voice spoke the door opened further and a familiar man stepped in. He was wearing armour, a sword which he could feel like a heartbeat on the edge of his senses hanging at his hip. He was clearly older as well, broader in the shoulders, softer in the chest and middle in a way that was reminiscent of an omega who had had pups. His hand fell to rest on the sword when his eyes locked with Arthur’s.
“Oh,” the older version of him said.

Arthur is relieved when Balinor the Dragonlord agrees to help, but dismayed when he refuses to come back to Camelot. Instead, Arthur is stuck waiting in the middle of nowhere while Balinor calls the dragon. To make matters worse, Arthur’s idiot manservant clearly has a massive crush on the guy: despite him being a grumpy, straggly, cave-dwelling sorcerer, who makes terrible cabbage pottage, Merlin hasn’t taken his eyes off him! Arthur will tolerate this nonsense for a couple of days, but only because he must save Camelot.

Merlin has never had a guide on his new dragonlord title, so when his body starts to face changes due to it he is frightened. Even worse since he isn't in Camelot, and rather on the forests with his King and the Knights for a quest. Now he must hide those painful changes while making sure his magic isn't discovered by his friends.

Basically Camelot shenanigans with our favorite knights of the round table and some magic (and Merthur) thrown in.

“Don’t you feel it?” Arthur felt desperate. Someone needed to tell him that he wasn’t going crazy or getting sick, because this was deeply concerning. It felt like something was MISSING from himself, but not as in ‘lost’. More like it was blown away in a storm.
“Feel what?”
“It’s like… something’s cut. Off. Misplaced. Taken away. Carved out of the air. Something is deeply … wrong.” There was also the feeling of something having snapped back into place, but right now that wasn’t the part that concerned him.
Gwaine frowned. “And you think Merlin can fix it?”
Arthur huffed a breath, the feeling was getting worse. He clutched his hand tighter around his heart. “No.” His voice was breaking as the feeling puzzled itself together in his mind, setting him into a full blown panic. “Something’s wrong with HIM.”
