Summary
Portgas D. Ace and Genichiro (son of Admiral Akainu) had a secret love affair and a daughter who was produced from that love affair. Fearing her blood would get her killed and hating his father for what he did, Genichiro gives her to the one person in the Marines he trusts to take care of her, his friend Koby, before he suspiciously dies.
Koby takes on his new role seriously but knows he can’t keep her, she deserves to be free and far away from the World Government. So, in a desperate decision, he gives her to Trafalgar Law.

Sasuke gazed up at the moon, red with a perverse eye of constant spirals. He asked, with a fractured voice and shaking lungs, “what is that?”

“Yeah, sensei, do we pass?” Sasuke dangled the bells from the tip of his finger, a smug grin on his face. He was a bastard, Kakashi decided.
Actually, all of them were. Little shit bastards. Feral goblins. Hellspawn. If it wasn’t Sakura literally changing the landscape of the field underneath Kakashi’s feet, it was Sasuke swinging a sword crackling with lightning, both of them subtly herding him towards Naruto’s hundred shadow-clones, all of which were so fast he could barely track them even with the sharingan.
Kakashi was starting to think his team definitely didn’t have the same problems as the others.

He takes a deep breath.
“I want him the way I should have wanted Jane.”
Max is quiet, when he finally manages to look at her again. Her brows draw together slightly, pausing.
“But,” she whispers, in the space between them. “Will is a boy.”
Mike feels new tears well up behind his lids.
“Max.”
Something shifts in her expression, her mouth parting slightly.
“Oh.”
It’s quiet. Mike’s mouth pulls itself into a bitter smile. “Yeah, oh.”
or, it’s summer ‘90, and while everyone is off to college, Mike and Max scoop up ice cream in the rebuilt Starcourt Mall, reluctantly bonding over their shared hatred for children (and Mike’s little sister and idle friends) who just can’t seem to leave them alone.
or, 5 years later, it isn’t Robin and Steve working at Scoops Ahoy: it’s Max and Mike (who also get accidentally drugged. It's definitely not Steve's fault.)
