That's why the hole is surprising.
He has a jar of pickles in one hand, and a bouquet of dill in the other, and there is a hole in the wall of the root cellar.
It's about half as tall as Estonia, and only as wide as his leg, more of a crack than a hole proper. Still, it seems endlessly deep. He sets down the pickles, still clutching the dill in his left hand, and grabs a broom from the corner on the far side of the root cellar. With a slight little tremble, Estonia nudges the end of the broom into the crack, and pushes.

He thinks about watching Engineer hop the fence and walk off into the badlands, and does not think about Maynard Conagher's hands on his hips as he's maneuvered around the kitchen, heavy fingers pressing on old bruises, hidden by his clothes, hidden by a friendly gesture. Scout nearly whines when he takes the first sip of tea, and the hand on his neck tightens, like a noose.

Roman holds the red helmet in his hands like Hamlet with the skull of Yorick, and Jason can't help the smirk he feels pulling at his cheeks. He knows it's going to get him hurt, but it's so funny, so ironic. The helmet that's loaded with enough C4 to blow the both of them to hell, the helmet that might as well be his skull as much as Yorick's. He's gonna go out with a bomb again, just like last time, and he can't help but smile with nostalgia. Hell is other people after all.
