When a half dozen severely neglected horses arrive at Hopeland Farm Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in the middle of winter, Nicholas D. Wolfwood isn't happy that his usual vet is out. However, the new vet, one Vash Saverem, seems to know his stuff. Wolfwood quickly finds himself calling Vash out to Hopeland for less and less urgent reasons.
