Summary
One rainy night, an Alpha medical student, Gong Jun, came across a wounded man collapsing in a dark alley on his way back home. He recognized this unknown man as an Omega, and he also discovered that there were people in the vicinity desperately searching for this Omega, bearing an obvious ill will. Afraid that those people might find them, Gong Jun decided to bring the man home with him and tended to his wounds.
However, the man disappeared the next morning. Several days later, he showed up without notice at the pet cafe where Gong Jun was working part-time, introducing himself as Zhang Zhehan and expressing his wish to thank the younger man in person.
Little did Gong Jun know, that this seemingly refined and gentle Omega was hiding a dark secret behind his tender smile.

Young bartender Gong Jun had been working peacefully in the new bar he'd recently been employed to. One day, on one of his Friday night shifts, a charming customer came to his bar. The man's name was Zhang Zhehan, a successful author who preferred to hide himself away from the spotlight.
The two of them drew closer. Every Friday night, Zhang Zhehan would come to visit him and they would talk all night over drinks. After the third Friday, however, Zhang Zhehan suddenly stopped coming.

There is a man he’s met two days ago trying to stare a hole into his chest. The pool is three rows of chairs and five parasols away and somehow he’s still getting splashed. A family of five has just arrived with a whole suitcase of pool toys, including an assortment of water guns, and the youngest son is already crying because there are other people in the pool. Zhou Zishu sighs and wishes he could be somewhere else.
Wen Kexing is still watching him with that indulgent smirk, looking like there’s no place he’d rather be.

“Luo-yi’s app has successfully matched dozens of soulmates,” Wen Kexing says, smiling benevolently, from where he is almost glued to Zhou Zishu’s side.
“Oh? Why not hire them instead?”
“We did have another couple lined up for the job,” says the woman sitting on the other side of the table. “They broke up.”
OR: Zhou Zishu needed a job. Wen Kexing needed a soulmate. It should’ve been easy.

“You don’t think he can do it?” Ma-jie paused, turning to face him.
Zhehan paused. He knew Gong Jun wasn’t a trained pilot. He knew his simulation stats. He knew he was a year younger, was a cadet at the Academy at roughly the same time as Zhehan, and flunked out before ever getting to wear the drivesuit. He knew all that, and nothing else, and yet, his gut bristled at Ma-jie’s suggestion.
“I think he can.”
Five years after losing his co-pilot in battle and getting blamed for it, Zhehan is asked to return to duty. It’s not difficult for him to agree, the pull of the Jaeger stronger than the pain of his past. Letting Gong Jun in, however, turns out to be a little more complicated.

Not for a good long while, anyway. He stares at Zhehan like he’s surprised to see him, like this is a big misunderstanding, though Xiaoyu’s words ring fresh through Zhehan’s mind. When he finally opens his mouth he just says: “Hi.”
Former F1 driver Zhang Zhehan has retired from the world of racing after a serious injury. He's made his peace with the situation. He's moved on.
Enter Gong Jun, his old rival, asking Zhehan to come back and be his race engineer.

“How could you say that, A-Xu?” Wen Kexing asked with feigned, wide-eyed hurt. “Would anyone but your virtuous wife prick their fingers a thousand times just to accompany you in this mundane chore?”
Zhou Zishu looked up and caught Wen Kexing’s gaze, arching an eyebrow. “If you’re my virtuous wife, then when are you going to fulfil your other wifely duties?”
Zhou Zishu is utterly baffled when his attempts to reciprocate Wen Kexing’s flirting results in unexpected and uncharacteristic reactions. As arrogant as it might sound, Zhou Zishu had expected Wen Kexing to respond far more enthusiastically, rather than quite literally fleeing from his overtures. What the hell is going on here?

Zhou Zishu doesn’t know when this started—this being the casual touches, the lack of proprietary space between their arms, their legs, their bowed heads. If he thinks about it, he’d likely be able to trace it back to their first meeting. Wen Kexing’s hands always touched. Wen Kexing’s arms always brushed his. Wen Kexing’s head followed his own like a sunflower looking for the sun.

Zhehan finds himself wondering what those cameras still fixed on them, waiting to catch something interesting, would think if this was a romance—a successful one, unlike their half-hearted dates with the girls in the house. The commentators joked about them dating, and he and Gong Jun talked about how it would be quite a twist if they did, but what if it really happened? Would the fans who excitedly commented to Gong Jun about them being good friends be even more excited if they turned out to be dating?
Zhang Zhehan joins the reality show Veranda House to further his struggling acting career and hopefully have a good time. Pretending to date Gong Jun fits in with those plans, but is it really just pretend?
