Once they were alone, Alex and Henry sat in comfortable silence, the sound of the lake’s gentle waves in the background. Alex looked up at the stars, feeling a sense of peace he hadn’t felt in a long time.
“This is perfect,” Henry said quietly, echoing June’s earlier sentiment. “Just being here with you.”
Alex turned to Henry, his heart swelling with emotion. “Yeah, it is.”
