“If you could do what I’m thinking right now, would you do it?” Amber sounded casual when she said it, and Tara immediately knew it was just another one of her games.
“Depends on what that ‘something’ is,” Tara replied, curious but not giving in to whatever Amber had planned for her.
“That takes all the fun out of it, don’t you think?” Amber complained, though Tara could practically hear the smile in her voice. “Not knowing if it’s good or bad. You could just go with it and blame me afterward. I wouldn’t mind.”
Tara didn’t answer, knowing her silence would annoy her. And it worked. Amber huffed.
“Fine. Let’s see… how about… kicking a puppy? Yeah, kicking that annoying little piece of shit!”
Tara raised an eyebrow, amused.
“Why would I want to kick a puppy? They’re small and adorable. I’ve always wanted one.”

Summary

A story in which Canon!Harry Potter is instead an OC. Due to being far more interested in studying (Ravenclaw!), as well as possessing a rare aptitude for certain magics, she rapidly develops in her proficiency as a witch. Unfortunately, Voldemort is in a league of his own, and he certainly won't be defeated by a bunch of children straight out of Hogwarts.
Will the world end with a bang or a whimper? Or neither?
